As the energy crisis caused by geopolitical conflicts intensifies, coupled with the gradual onset of winter in the northern hemisphere, the relevant "winter" laws issued by European countries are not short of tough measures to restrict residents' electricity and heating conditions in winter.

The Swiss government, for example, is considering requiring residents to keep their winter homes heated to no more than 19 degrees, with fines and three years in prison for violations. The move follows similar measures in Spain and Germany, which not only limit room temperatures to 27 degrees Celsius in summer and 19 degrees Celsius in winter but also require shop Windows and public buildings to turn off lights when empty at night.
