At present, the new energy storage technology industry is highly valued. According to statistics, the newly installed capacity of new energy storage in China in 2021 will reach 2.4GWh, and the cumulative capacity will reach 5.7GWh. With the rapid expansion of domestic demand for new graphene supercapacitor manufacturers, lithium batteries, BMS, PCS and other core components will take the lead in the demand explosion.

On October 9, 2022, after the National Energy Administration issued the Action Plan for the Improvement of Energy Carbon to Peak Carbon Neutrality and Standardization, many local governments also responded positively by launching energy-storage-related policies and putting forward important development goals, laying out power-grid side energy storage at key nodes, steadily promoting the construction of power-supply side energy storage, and actively supporting the diversified development of energy-storage at the user side.


In the expectation of broad market prospects, a number of battery companies accelerate the expansion of energy storage battery capacity, and there is no shortage of companies' with cross-border layouts of energy storage tracks.

Compared with traditional energy storage, new energy storage has its own unique advantages


Energy storage can be divided into physical energy storage and chemical energy storage. New energy storage refers to energy storage in the form of power output except for pumped storage. Compared with pumped storage, the new energy storage is flexible in site selection, short in the construction cycle, fast and flexible in response and diverse in function and characteristics. The new energy storage can change the traditional operation mode of the power system and improve the flexibility of the system.

According to the relevant person in charge of the National Energy Administration, said: "The new energy storage construction cycle is short, the site selection is simple and flexible, the adjustment ability is strong, and the new energy development and consumption of the match is better, the advantages are gradually prominent, accelerate the large-scale application of advanced energy storage technology is imperative."

 

The construction cycle of pumped storage power stations is usually 6 to 8 years, the construction cycle of electrochemical storage in new energy storage is 3 to 6 months, and the construction cycle of new compressed air is usually 1.5 to 2 years. The site selection of a pumped storage power station usually needs to find a place with large terrain differences, but the capacity benefit is strong, the scale of a single station is large, suitable for large-scale, system-level applications on the grid side. The new energy storage station can be large or small, with strong environmental adaptability. It can be flexibly deployed in various application scenarios such as power supply, power grid and user side, and can be used as an incremental supplement to pumped storage. The reaction speed of the new electrochemical energy storage is fast, which can achieve a response of milliseconds to seconds.
